Randy
Meisner made his singing debute in the band "Drivin'
Dynamics" with a song
called "You Send Me" at the age of 16 at
home in Nebraska. A couple of years later
he joined a group called "The Survivors",
followed them to California where he
eventually left and started playing with the country
oriented group "Poco", famous
for their live performances.
His
work with "Poco" ended abruptly and he moved
on, made some session work
for other artists and played in the "Stone Canyon
Band" with Rick Nelson. At this time
he also started backing up Linda Ronstadt together
with Bernie Leadon and songwriters
Don Henley and Glenn Frey. Soon thereafter the four of
them started their own band,
"The Eagles" in 1972.
Randy's
bass playing and high voice were important ingredients
for the band so
famous for its harmonies, and his songwriting
contributions are considerable. Songs
like "Take The Devil", "Tryin'"
and "Take It To The Limit" are a few of his
treasures.
In
1977 he decided to leave and returned home to Nebraska
where he eventually went
on with his carreer with the album "Bad Man"
and he also had a few single hits with
the songs "Deep Inside My Heart" and "Hearts
On Fire".
Over
the years he too played as a guest on other artisit's
records. Dan Fogelberg,
Richie Furay, Bob Welsh and Joe Walsh just to mention
a few.
1989
Randy was reunited with "Poco" with whom he
recorded an album called
"Legacy". Ten
years
later he played with his former bandmates from The
Eagles
at their induction to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Lately
he has been active and played with "World Classic
Rockers".
Randy
has one of Rock music's best voices.
Let's
hope it won't be long until we get to hear something
new from him soon!
